OKUNO Department store is located in the heart of Asahikawa city and its main shopping district (Kaimono Koen). It is a brief walk form all major hotels and the train station making it a convenient destination for shopping or grabbing a bite to eat.
Okuno features 5 floors of select shops, restaurants and cafes, salons, cosmetics stores, and lifestyle shops. Visitors have the opportunity to purchase popular Japanese brands as well as popular brands from all over the world. Most styles of clothing are represented, there really is something for everybody.
Starting from the basement floor, you will be able to find a couple of great restaurants, 'Hoang Tam' and 'Kandy spice'. These are open a little later than the department store itself and can be accessed from the side entrance when the store is closed.
On the first (or ground) floor you'll some ladies clothing shops and a cosmetics shops. There is also a great shop for gloves, beanies and other assorted items at a low price which is particularly useful in winter.
On the second floor you'll find a mixture of women's and men's clothing, as well as a lunch restaurant called Tapasta which affords a nice view of the street below.
The third and fourth floor are dedicated to women and men respectively, featuring excellent fashion from all over the world, covering just about everything from formal to street in the process. You'll be particularly impressed by the selection of boots.
The fifth floor contains shops dedicated to lifestyle items. These are great to wander around and possibly pick up a souvenir.
The remaining floors are office space.
If you don't already know, Asahikawa can become bitterly cold in winter and it sometimes happens that people arrive here ill prepared. Keep Okuno in mind when you find the need for a pair of gloves, a beanie or a jacket to help you get through the tough winter comfortably and fashionably.
